Students who disturb in class
Montréal, QC April 27, 2023

Intervening with students with adjustment difficulties:

  • Toolbox to implement effective strategies.
  • Become a reassuring attachment figure for the child in difficulty.
  • Self-awareness; an advantage.
  • The detective game:

Observe; be on the lookout for the slightest clue.

Analyze; seek to understand the function of behavior.

Explore; adapt the interventions according to the signals.

The ultimate goal: Plan ahead!

Bio

Isabelle Couture has held an administration position at Centre académique Fournier for nearly 10 years. She had been a teacher at the same school for 10 years prior. She holds a bachelor's degree in preschool and elementary education, a specialized graduate diploma in educational management, and a master's degree in educational management. Thus, she has solid expertise in education, more particularly with a clientele with the difficulty of adaptation.

The primary vocation of Centre académique Fournier is to empower students in their relationship with others through psychosocial re-education. Applying state-of-the-art pedagogy while offering personalized and highly specialized services, we are an essential complement to the mission of School Service Centers to provide quality education to children with adjustment and/or learning difficulties and/or without associated disorders. Our school is often the last chance for education for the children we receive. Our mission is to allow our students to experience an adapted educational path that better meets their needs, in an educational environment based on a differentiation approach. As each student has a unique background, we work with them to find the triggers of their behavioral manifestations and offer them individualized support that will allow them to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Benevolence is at the heart of our practices.
